In the studio
Many of my plein air paintings, working studies and photography make their way back into the studio room as a source for reference while creating larger scale paintings.
At the drafting table
I fell in love with botanical illustration while residing in an old gardener's cottage in the USVA. Years later, I took a two year Natural Science Illustration Certificate program at the Rhode Island School of Design.
plein air painting
My favorite studio is the one outdoors. I mainly work on my own but enjoy meeting up with a local group of plein air painters.
THERE ARE MANY THINGS WHICH CAN INSPIRE ONE TO BECOME AN ARTIST. MY INSPIRATION STARTED AT A VERY EARLY AGE WHILE WATCHING MOM PAINT. IN MY PRE-TEENS, I SPENT MY SUMMERS AT A FAMILY MEMBER'S HORSE BARN. IT WAS HERE THAT I BEGAN TO TRY AND DRAW THE CONFIRMATION OF A HORSE. BY MY TEEN YEARS, I WAS FREE TO ROAM ON MY BICYCLE THROUGHOUT A SMALL SEASIDE TOWN IN NEW JERSEY. THERE WERE BEAUTIFUL MARSHES, BEACHES, FARM FIELDS AND SUNSETS TO OBSERVE AND PAINT.
BELOW IS A REPRODUCTION OF AN OIL PAINTING BY LINDA. SEVERAL OF HER PAINTINGS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN PRINT ON PAPER, MATT & POLY BAG.
AS A FINE ART PAINTING MAJOR AT PRATT INSTITUTE, BROOKLYN, NY, I WAS ABLE TO TAKE COURSES IN PRINTMAKING, SCULPTURE, DRAWING, PHOTOGRAPHY AND JEWELRY DESIGN. AFTER GRADUATION, MY FIRST EMPLOYER WAS BRZ DESIGNS, A COSTUME JEWELRY COMPANY BASED IN MANHATTAN. I WORKED THERE FOR THREE YEARS AS THE SHOP AND PRODUCTION MANAGER. MANY YEARS LATER I ADVANCED MY JEWELRY MAKING SKILLS AS A SILVERSMITH FOR THE J.H.BREAKELL & CO. IN NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND.
